Blackberry Lane Pottery takes its name from
a
small farm in Alabama where my husband and I made our first home. Although we live in suburban Charlotte now, Blackberry Lane
lives on as a home-based pottery business. Here I make
slip-cast earthenware horses and related giftware - tiles,
medallions and jewelry components. (For a look at the process
behind the creation of the pieces, you can see some step by step
photos on the blog.) |

I have had a lifelong affinity for
animals - horses in particular - so it was natural that they
would be the subject of my artwork. That work tends to be
driven by my interest in equine coat colors, and I found in
ceramic underglaze the ideal medium to capture both the vibrant
tones and the intricate pattern details I find so fascinating.
