There have been many requests for a full-color version of The Equine Tapestry. At the moment, color printing on a specialty non-fiction book, especially one of this size, is cost-prohibitive. For that reason, the book was designed with black-and-white printing in mind.

With the introduction of the Kindle Fire last year, I began work on a color electronic version. It is not the same book as the print version. Instead of just flowing the existing pages over to the Kindle, I decided to take advantage of what the Kindle does well, while leaving out the things that it does not do well. So the Kindle version will be in color (for the images that were in color, at least), and it will have more images. The e-book format, with its continuous flow, does not have the same layout limitations. But it will also have fewer charts and sidebars. The goal is to share the same essential information, but in a way best suited to the medium.

For those without a Kindle, or with an older one that cannot display color, there is a Kindle application for both the PC and the Mac. This means you do not have to have a Kindle to read an e-book in that format. You can download the free application from Amazon. Unlike a PDF file, books read using these applications have adjustable text. There are also options on the downloaded versions that are not available on the Kindle itself, like the adjustable width of the viewing screen text that can be set into columns.

More information will be posted when the electronic version is available.
