Thank you to all who participated in the Spring 2008 Lottery!  The "First Time Winners" Lottery is planned for late summer.

(Frequently asked questions)

How can I purchase a horse from Blackberry Lane?

The horses are primarily sold through lotteries.  With a lottery, the available horses are pictured on the website with a set price.  Customers who would like to purchase one (or more) of the horses enter their name for that horse.  On the final day, a name is drawn from among the entries, and the horse is offered to that person.

At the moment, lotteries are held in the spring and the fall, each with six to eight pieces offered.  A third lottery for first-time purchasers will be added in 2008.

More rarely, horses are sold by auction.  Most of these auctions are done for charitable causes, with others done for unusual horses that are difficult to price.

How can I purchase art tiles or jewelry?

In the past these were sold by lottery, through private sales, by in-person sales at model horse events.  Later this spring, these items will be available for direct purchase on the website.

How will I know when items are available for sale?

The best way is to join the announcement list.  Sales and auctions are posted there first, before the information is sent to any public lists.   You can subscribe to the list here.  Sneak peeks of upcoming items often appear on the blog.

Do you take orders or custom glaze pieces for customers?

No.  Because my work schedule is sporadic, I am not able to give a reasonable (or even predictable) turn-around on these types of projects.  It is far less frustrating for everyone involved if I limit myself to sales of finished pieces.

How many horses are in the Blackberry Lane editions?

The studio's own pieces do not have a set edition size.  Because the techniques used to glaze the pieces are time-intensive, and because production (from molding to casting to finishing) is all done by one person, only a limited number are produced.

Can you cast and glaze a ceramic edition of my sculpture for me?

The studio is not currently set up to do that kind of production work.

Can you donate a horse to my show's auction?

I no longer make horses for show auctions.  As much as I would like to help shows and show holders, I get far more requests each year than I can possibly fill, and picking from among the many worthwhile ones is impossible.  Instead I have chosen to donate my time to educational projects within the industry, and a portion of my sales to the causes nearest to my heart.  (A list of those can be found on the Links page.)
