Currently offered on the Auction Barn
Recently, Joan Berkwitz of Pour Horse Pottery turned her master mold-making skills on Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig's popular sculpture Stormwatch. All the tiny detail - every wrinkle and every wisp of mane - is faithfully replicated in earthenware ceramic. The piece is a testament to two of the most highly skilled artisans in our community. Joan has said that due to the complexity of the mold, it is likely that few will be made. This is the only one I have glazed, and the only one I intend to offer for sale. "Alaska" is a warm black tovero with one blue and one dark eye. His visible ear is partially white, and his lacey-edged pattern is interspersed throughout with roaned and ticked patches. His yellowed teeth are just visible behind his drooping lip. He has dirt-stained legs, feathers, tail ends and mane edges, as is fitting for a guy living the feral life. As a Traditional-scale horse, Stormwatch is an impressive canvas for glazing, and I've taken advantage of that when detailing his pattern. I will accept time payments if they are arranged in advance. Please email me if you wish to use this option. Shipping and full insurance will be included in the price. I can accept Paypal, personal check or money order. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact me via email. I'd like to see more pictures of Alaska
